Stunning Grand Canyon Wedding Photos at Lipan Point
If you’ve ever visited the Grand Canyon in Arizona, you know how impressive and amazing of a place it is. And, why it’s a popular destination for weddings. There are many different overlooks and quieter locations to give you the perfect Grand Canyon wedding photos.
Katelynn and Dayton were traveling to Arizona and searching out local photographers for their wedding ceremony at the Grand Canyon. That’s one thing I love to do – travel for destination weddings and sessions. Traveling to locations like the Grand Canyon offer a memorable and unique experience for the bride and groom (or even family sessions).
After doing her searches for a photographer, and reviewing my portfolio Katelynn reached out a few months in advance to see if I was available, and if I was interested in shooting at the Grand Canyon. Um, yes! She already had the location picked out, Lipan Point, which offers a beautiful overlook of the Canyon, and wide sweeping views.
Being the planner that I am, and honestly, being an over thinker, I drove up the night before so I didn’t have to worry about traffic or any other issues that may delay me the morning of their big day. And, knowing that the parking is very limited at some of those overlooks, I got there about an hour prior, just so I knew I wouldn’t be panicking trying to park when they arrived. I always make sure I’m ready to go.
Katelynn, Dayton, and their family were doing a guided tour that day, and their guide was to bring them to Lipan Point at 11:00 am for their session. While that time isn’t ideal for photos due to the bright/overhead sun, we still captured some beautiful images. And, two days before, Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon got a snowstorm, which left the ground covered in snow and ice, making their session and wedding photos that much more special.
I was honored that they chose me to photograph their wedding, and be a part of their big day. We worked around the sun, and the slippery ice, and made some beautiful, memorable Grand Canyon wedding photos. Take a look at the gallery below.
